Everyone should come down and see what’s on at the Market!
This weekend is Small Business Saturday. To support and celebrate our local businesses I spent the morning in with Heywood Market. It’s very festive at the moment, with entertainment for the kids and lots of stalls selling a variety of specialst and general household goods. The Wraps from Jenna’s were excellent too, while my husband enjoyed the breakfast from Berties.
We talked about business rates, National Insurance, the car park, how the economy is doing and the success of the market now it is open on Thursdays.
Our Government is working hard to change the landscape for small businesses, raising the threshold for National Insurance to over £10k, which means a million small businesses won’t pay any NI.
And to share the burden of Business Rates, we will make online giants pay their share of business rates to make competition with shops on the high street fairer.
It’s exciting how well Heywood Market is doing – even attracting Hollywood stars! But we will keep working to save our High Streets and keep our towns safe and economically successful.
As you’re doing your Christmas Shopping… think about popping into an independent shop and seeing what bargains you can find locally.
