Elsie Blundell, MP for Heywood and Middleton North, has celebrated the Government’s announcement that Bamford Academy is to be in the first national cohort of free Breakfast Clubs, feeding children and providing childcare, saving parents up to £450 a year.
The free Club is due to start in April and the school will be in touch with parents to discuss any new arrangements.
“I’m so excited to see this pledge come into reality. Giving a good start in life for the children of Heywood and Middleton North matters deeply to me and will help to transform our local area.
“Breakfast Clubs play an important role in preparing children for the day ahead, helping them learn, play and engage more. They also give every kid, regardless of background, the same start to the day making it an important investment in Bamford’s families.
“They also save parents around £450 a year, which is the Labour Government putting real help in parents’ purses. Another promise made, and a promise kept.”
Confirmation of the first pilot stage of the national breakfast club roll out was announced on Sunday 23rd Feb with Bamford Academy named overnight, the only school in Rochdale.
Schools will receive financial support for the set up and delivery of their breakfast club and continued financing for the costs.
