Caseworker: Elsie Blundell MP
Role: Caseworker
Location: Heywood
Salary: c. £27,000 (pro-rata)
Contract: Part time – 3 days per week
Deadline: 12noon Monday 20th October
Elsie is looking for a part-time caseworker to work in her busy constituency office.
The successful applicant will be happy to work both independently and as part of Elsie’s small, close-knit team. The role will be part time (3 days per week) and will allow for hybrid working both in the constituency office in Heywood, and remotely.
Duties include:
- Manage a large number of standard queries and more complex cases from members of the public.
- Gather relevant information to assist with resolving cases.
- Log all cases, monitor progress and ensure all identified actions are taken.
- Ensure records are kept and information managed confidentially in line with GDPR.
- Draft responses to constituents.
- Critically analyse patterns of enquiries and articulate the findings in reports and communication with the MP and other team members.
- Ensure that each case is dealt with promptly, sensitively, confidentially and accurately, in accordance with the MPs requirements.
- Assist at surgeries and other meetings and follow up as appropriate.
- There will be a requirement to occasionally work outside or normal working hours, including attending events with the MP as required.
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience working as a Caseworker for a Member of Parliament or experience of casework in a similar role.
- Ability to deal with and prioritise a large and varied workload and work well under pressure.
- Ability to manage expectations in sometimes challenging circumstances.
- Experience an online casework system.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good IT skills including MS Office.
- Ability to draft letters and emails to a high professional standard.
- Motivation to work proactively and independently, as well as part of a small team.
- Commitment to the aims and values of the Labour Party
The role will focus on casework related to housing so knowledge and experience of housing casework would be desirable.
