Fly High Summer School

Named for Heywood’s Town motto “Alte Volo”, translated as ‘I Fly High’, the summer school includes work experience days with local partners like Greater Manchester Police, the Council, Rochdale Borough Housing and Transport for Greater Manchester. The highlight will be a trip to Parliament in London to meet the Speaker of the House.
“I want to create opportunities for local young people, including jobs and education that will give them, and our area, a stronger future.
“The summer school will give work experience and a glimpse into the corridors of power to those who wouldn’t be able to, any other way.
“I represent everyone, regardless of background, and I want to level the playing field for our young people so they can find their own ambitions.
It’s our first year, so there are only 5 places, but we hope to expand in future.
