After decades of underinvestment, much of our rail infrastructure – especially across the North – is at breaking point. At this week’s Transport Select Committee, I asked the CEO of Network Rail whether the right balance has been struck between spending where necessary and financial discipline. We need to see real change across the country as a whole – not just in select areas.
